Bill Estes graduated from Western College of Auctioneering in Billings Montana in 1957 at the age of 18. Bill worked at various livestock markets in Idaho, Oregon, and Utah and is currently going on his 19th year at the Blackfoot Livestock Auction. Bill worked with several auction companies selling farm equipment, and estate auctions prior to starting his own company in the 1970's. He also founded the Mini-Cassia Annual Community Consignment Auction which is held annually at the Cassia County Fair Grounds in Burley, Idaho in the latter part of March or the first part of April. This sale has grown into an annual affair that draws buyers and consigners from all around the intermountain west.

  • Bill served on the Cassia County school board from 1978 through 1981 and as chairman of the board from 1980-1981.
  • Was the president of the Idaho Association of Professional Auctioneers from 1985-1986 and again in 1994.
  • Was the Idaho state reserve champion auctioneer in 1990 and again in 1993.
  • Was honored in 1985 by the Eastern Idaho State Fair livestock sale committee for services rendered.
  • Received honor award for three decades of managing the Cassia county FFA and 4-H fat stock sale.
  • Recipient of the Friend of 4H award and the Declo Chapter Honorary Chapter Farmer award.
  • 1992 Burley Area Chamber of Commerce award for valuable contribution to the chamber and its programs.
  • In 1998 was inducted into the Idaho Auctioneers Hall of Fame.
  • Was the recipient of the 2006-2007 Rupert Elks Lodge 2106 Hall of Fame.
  • Along with his wife Dixie was honored as the Grand Marshals of the Cassia County Parade for their work with the Cassia County Fair Fat Stock Sale.
Bill feels very fortunate to have the caliber of cashiers, clerks, ring men, auctioneers and setup crews that assist him in conducting the auctions year after year and in making it a very enjoyable profession
